The main objective of Life RENDER is to demonstrate under real conditions the technical, environmental and economic feasibility of an innovative tool enabling the realization of PEF and PEFCR-compliant studies by SMEs from the Food and Drink (F&D) sector and the identification of focused environmental measures.

The specific objectives of the project are the followings:

  • Demonstration of an easy-to-use and easy-to-understand software tool supporting the development of PEF and PEFCR-compliant studies by SMEs of the Dairy sector and enabling the determination and evaluation of the environmental footprint of products and the identification of focused Best Available Techniques, Technologies and Management Practices for lowering their environmental impacts.
  • Large-scale demonstration of the developed tools by assessing the environmental footprint of 30 dairy products in France and by implementing environmental measures provided by the software application to lower the environmental footprint of 6 dairy products.
  • Demonstration of Transferability Potential of the developed tools to other Member States through Replication Tests in dairy companies of Spain and Portugal.
  • Prevention of CO2 emissions through mitigation measures improving the energetic efficiency of Dairy SMEs and consequently reducing, direct or indirectly, their greenhouse gas emissions
  • Implementation of awareness raising strategies to consumers and stakeholders to increase their familiarity and understanding of PEF.
